Imani Enterprises caters to individuals, organizations, or corporations by providing an unparalleled service that aids our clients in realizing that arts and creativity can add value to their messaging, goals and/or objectives. Anne-Marie Woods is an actor, producer, cultural educator, motivational speaker, spoken word artist, coach, writer, project manager and facilitator. She has been a resource for the Toronto District School Board, the Toronto Catholic District School Board and has worked and presented for various school boards in the United States, Nova Scotia, and Montreal. She has a Theatre Arts degree from Dalhousie University and completed the August Wilson training program at Freedom Theatre in Philadelphia.

Woods also completed the HRDC Small Business program. Her full time contracts have included working at CBC Radio, St. Stephens Community House, Youthdale Treatment Centres and the City of Toronto Economic Development and Culture Division and for the City Clerk’s Division.

She has an extensive background in youth outreach, community development, and communications which make her a viable addition to your team.

Creative Writing Coach for Jonsaba Jabi

Sponsored by Nia Centre For The Performing Arts 2021 (Toronto, Canada)

Anne-Marie Woods worked with Jonsaba Jabbi, (Content and Communication Specialist and Blogger) who is developing a new spoken word manuscript. 

Starting with an initial consultation to find out her personal goals and creative writing background, Woods developed a six-session workplan using the rough draft of Jonsaba’s manuscript as a guide. She created exercises to delve deeper into the writing and performance aspects of spoken word as an art form and facilitated  90- minute sessions designed to aid her in her confidence as a writer.

The result: one of the poems created in the virtual private sessions was published in Room Magazine.

Africentric Virtual Educator for Alderwood Action Saturday Family Program

2021 – 2022 (Toronto, Canada)

An independent contract entitled Black History Shouldn’t Be A Mystery; a title taken from Anne-Marie Woods’  youth production ‘The Three Friends.’ 

Excited to take Black History to the next level and into a new medium with virtual learning…Anne-Marie developed, designed, and facilitated lesson plans on six key Africentric Heroes and Sheroes of Black History. These education modules were designed for Pre-K to Middle School aged children and taught them Africentric curriculum through a series of live virtual presentations using PowerPoint with animated highlights. Through collaborative and self-directed learning activities, the young participants in the program learned about Innovation, Creativity, Entrepreneurship, History, Global Citizenship, Critical Thinking, English and basic Math.

The result: 6 creative modules that can Anne-Marie hopes to turn into a TV animation.

 

Co writer of Script Adaptation, Acting Coach and Creative Director for Daniels Corporation production of The Journey in 2013 and 2015

A partnership with Imani Enterprises, Daniels Corporation and Artscape (Toronto, Canada)

Anne-Marie Woods worked two partnership contracts with Daniels Corporation and Artscape as Production Coordinator/ Creative Director and Co-Writer of the Script Adaptation for the Journey. Duties included creating a logistical outline and timeline for the production, overseeing all aspects of the production including – creating artist and volunteer contracts, hiring a production assistant, stage manager, visual artists and lighting technician and overseeing the professional artist mentorship program and the Youth Ensemble Theatre auditions. She also had to examine each separate element of the show which included music, narration, performance, and video editing, work on a communications strategy and create the copy that would be used in the program as well as oversee the production team. 

In 2015 her duties included creating an entirely new musical script based on the songs and notes written by Mitchell Cohen, the President of Daniels. 

The result: a script created that was used as the basis for future productions of The Journey

Creative Consultant/ Facilitator for WORD UP!!! Creative Writing Workshops 2014

A partnership with Sir Robert L Borden Business and Technical Institute (Scarborough, ON, Canada)

WORD UP!!! is Anne-Marie’s spoken word and theatre program originally; developed as a youth outreach program for Young Peoples Theatre. A program used as a tool for literacy, self-esteem, and self-expression in young people. A customized school version of the program was developed for a group of young girls at Sir Robert L. Borden Business and Technical Institute in Scarborough.

Working closely with the school’s Vice Principals and English teacher Anne-Marie developed and facilitated a series of 60 – 90-minute WORD UP!!! creative writing and oration workshop using spoken word, theatre, and creative writing techniques for 12 students. In each session they explored free writing, self expression, vocabulary, editing, proofreading, and performance techniques for their individual pieces and group poems.

The result of the workshop series was an edited anthology of the young girls’ work.

Creative Writing Coach/Editor for Tonjha Richardson (Toronto Canada)

Starting with an initial consultation to find out her personal goals. Woods developed an intensive creative writing workplan utilizing conversation and free writing as a mechanism to get Tonjha to condense her ideas.

The result: The beginning of a new one woman show that looks at her personal life and her familial experiences that shaped her life.
